Blackgates is a long established supplier of model engineering requirements. This is a friendly family company, well known to many model engineers. They have an extensive plan and casting supply service covering many popular designs featured in Model Engineer and Engineering in Miniature along with a number of independently produced designs. Their catalogue also features a wide range of materials, small tools and accessories. Recently the company has acquired the rights and material assets of the much respected H.P. Jackson of York, for which a catalogue is currently being prepared.

Laycock’s have sadly but understandably left their old premises in the centre of Keighley and now occupy a modern building with extensive warehousing. Although a supplier of engineering steels to the engineering trades they are willing to deal in small quantities with a very nominal cutting charge. Service is always good and the staff helpful. Many model engineers use Laycock’s as a source of steel.
